hey, i’m han.
my full name is Haneul Choi.
you might know me as Master Choi.
i’m a movement educator and writer based in seoul, south korea.
i teach people how to move.
i make videos about things i’ve learned.
and i write stories about being alive.
sometimes i do something useful.
sometimes i turn upside down.
movement has taken me places.
my background includes capoeira, gymnastics, hand balancing, calisthenics, and circus arts.
in 2012, i went to brazil to train in capoeira, living and practicing with a traditional master. i also trained with Quilombola Academy and later completed the CNAC “Jumping Up” circus program in france.
different places. different teachers.
a lot of time being the person who couldn’t do it yet.
i still spend time there.
the place i helped build.
i’m the founder, co-CEO, and head of education at Xingmove Ground, a movement training community in seoul.
Xingmove began in 2013, when i started sharing ideas about movement online. individual lessons followed in 2015. our first group classes began in 2017.
today, my work includes teaching students, developing training methods, and educating instructors.
we practice strength, flexibility, balance, and the connections between movements.
the idea behind it is simple:
more freedom to move.
more ways to take part in life.
why i keep moving.
there’s a moment i love:
when something you couldn’t do becomes something you can.
maybe you stand on your hands.
maybe you get up from the floor a little more easily.
you find a possibility you didn’t know you had.
then you wonder what else is there.
i’ve spent a lot of my life following that feeling.
teaching is how i share it.
a few things from my résumé.
yes, i have one.
- bachelor’s degrees in physical education and lifelong education.
- capoeira training at Quilombola Academy in brazil, and workshops connecting practitioners from brazil, russia, and portugal.
- completion of the CNAC “Jumping Up” circus program in france.
- festival performances and television appearances, including MBC, between 2004 and 2011.
- master mentor on MBC’s Wild Idol in 2021.
- presenter at ACPR in 2024, on reverse-engineering movement performance.
- presenter at ACPR in 2025, on recovering lost movement.
- creator of the Korean-language Master Choi YouTube channel.
i also write.
i’m working on my first novel.
i’m interested in death, and in the moments when it makes life feel clearer.
what matters when our time is limited?
what makes someone want to keep living?
these questions follow me to the page.
movement is one way i explore being alive.
writing is another.
why stay raw?
in 2026, i started sharing in english as @stayraw_han.
i wanted to meet people beyond the language i already knew.
so here i am, teaching things i know while speaking a language i’m still learning.
my english is a work in progress.
so am i.
you asked. i wrote it down.
people ask me questions in class and in the comments.
sometimes, i’ve answered the same question before.
sometimes, a short video leaves something unexplained.
this is where i can give those answers a little more room,
and somewhere to stay.
i’ll write them as they come up.
i’ll update them as i learn.
see you on the floor.
or somewhere in a sentence.
